With a dedicated team of 24 members, including 23 academics and 1 administrative assistant, we are committed to the academic growth of our students. Our accomplished faculty members specialize in delivering Mathematics, Statistics and Introduction to Mathematics for Computing courses, catering to a diverse range of Sciences programs, such as Allied Health Science, Biological Science, Dentistry, Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Physical Science.<\/p><p>Our department serves as a preparatory platform, equipping students with essential knowledge and skills in Mathematics and Statistics. Graduates are well-prepared to continue their academic journey at either the Gombak or Kuantan Campus Kulliyyahs. The meticulously crafted curriculum of our Mathematics and Statistics courses is tailored to meet the unique requirements of these Kulliyyahs, ensuring a seamless transition and a strong academic foundation.<\/p><p>There are two programmes under the supervision of Department of Mathematics which are Biological Science and Physical Science programmes.<\/p><p><strong><br \/>OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>To offer Mathematics courses for students taking Allied Health Science, Biological Science, Dentistry, Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Physical Science programmes.<\/li><li>To oversee and monitor the academic performance and activities of the students in the Biological Science and Physical Science programmes.<\/li><li>To provide This approach ensures that the course&#8217;s benefits extend across various industries and professions, aligning with the demands of a dynamic and evolving job market.<\/p><p><b>\u00bb Introduction to Mathematics for Computing (MTIF 0125)<\/b><br \/>This course is designed for Foundation of ICT students to provide them with sets theory, logic, counting, relations, functions, graphs, etc. The knowledge gained from this course is meant to serve as a sound basis in understanding the fundamental concepts in algorithm theory, data structure, programming, cryptography, computer networking, software engineering, information systems, artificial intelligence, and automata theory.<\/p><p><b>\u00bb Statistics (MTCF 0123)<\/b><\/p><p>This course aims to provide students with a thorough introduction to statistics. Students will explore diverse aspects of statistical analysis, beginning with fundamental data description and progressing to advanced subjects such as hypothesis testing. This course provides topics on data description; counting and probability; discrete probability distributions, normal distribution, sampling, estimation and hypothesis testing. Upon completion of this course, students will have a strong foundation in statistics, enabling them to analyse data critically, derive meaningful conclusions, and make informed decisions based on data.<\/p><p><b>\u00bb Mathematics for Nursing (MTNF 0114)<\/b><\/p><p>Proficiency in mathematics is a crucial skill for the nursing profession as it is essential for the safe administration of medications and intravenous fluids. This course is designed for Foundation in Nursing students to improve and practice their existing mathematics skills and develop the ability to transfer these skills into nursing calculations. The curriculum emphasizes building strong numerical abilities through instruction in algebra, functions, graphing techniques, and basic dosage calculations. The course is designed to prepare students for further studies in nursing undergraduate programme.<\/p><p><b>\u00bb Statistics for Nursing (MTNF 0124)<\/b><\/p><p>This course is designed for Foundation in Nursing students to provide them with a comprehensive introduction to statistics. Students will explore various aspects of statistical analysis, starting from the basics of data description to more advanced topics like hypothesis testing. The course covers topics on data description; counting and probability; discrete probability distributions, normal distribution, sampling, estimation and hypothesis testing.
