The leadership development programme is one of IIUM’s strength for the past 40 years as we have been nurturing graduates now evidently serving in various sectors at national and international level. Hence the function of the Centre is to enhance further the initiatives to nurture future leaders, as the agent of change for the Ummah. IIUM Leadership Centre is to coordinate, enhance and offer Values-based Leadership programmes to maximise resources and leverage the expertise of our internal Subject Matter Experts.
The Centre has many functions, including but not limited to:
i. Providing transformative values-based leadership development programmes and trainings to both internal and external customers.
ii. Promoting and conducting research and knowledge exchange on leadership topics and publications on values-based leadership.
iii. Developing a network of leaders and leadership organisations.
iv. Providing advisory services and consultation to potential organisations on leadership issues.
v. To coordinate and oversee the University’s succession planning for critical positions and critical talent i.e. selection of candidates and development programmes for pool of talent and all the required procedures in succession planning to ensure talent is ready to fill in the position.
vi. Providing Strategic Plan on University Leadership and Succession Planning to the Senate Committee and other relevant University Management as well as at National level i.e. Akademi Kepimpinan Pendidikan Tinggi (AKEPT), MOHE.
vii. Providing measurement tools, for leadership competency levels for the IIUM community and other organisations.
viii. To closely work with the Akademi Kepimpinan Pendidikan Tinggi (AKEPT), MOHE for leadership and National Top Talent development programmes, and other local and international agencies including international University.
ix. To collaborate with the Student Development Division in leadership development programme and activities.
x. To collaborate with the Management Services Division, the Centre for Professional Development and other agencies within the University in the provision of leadership development programmes and trainings to IIUM staff.
IIUM Leadership Centre is the platform for leadership development for the students, staff members, and the wider community. More importantly is to ensure sustainability of talent especially in terms of leadership succession planning for critical positions for the University
