Introduction

There is no factor influences a learning environment as much as assessment. However, it is an open secret that most educators are not adequately prepared to competently assess student learning and instructional effectiveness.

In collaboration with the Council of Assessment for Islamic Education (MPPI), iMET develops and applies the Assessment Competency Structure aims to describe and CERTIFY the performance excellence of teachers, trainers, instructors, and lecturers.

Framed within the principles of Maqasid as-Shariah, the Assessment Competency Structure is in keeping to competency standards deemed important in professional certification. It is also aligned the with requirements of the Malaysian Qualification Framework.

The Assessment Competency Structure spells out two following competency components, namely (i) Core Competencies, (and ii) Functional Competencies serving as the baseline requirements for a professional assessor in the Islamic Education system.
