Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that CELPAD will be organising the International Language Symposium (ILS) 2024 from the 26^th to 27^th November 2024. The theme of the conference is “Sustainable Language Teaching and Learning with the Rise of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Innovations”. The symposium will run on Zoomvirtual platform.

The use of artificial intelligence in education is becoming a common practice in institutions of higher learning, especially among undergraduates, postgraduates and academics. Artificial Intelligence (A.I) has been embraced in English Language education in many parts of the world and is regarded as a tool to improve learning outcomes.

In Malaysia, the study of A.I. in language classrooms is still in its exploratory stage. Recognising the need to study this issue in depth, the Centre for Languages and Pre-university Academic Development (CELPAD), IIUM is organising this international symposium with the aims to provide a platform for all researchers and academics to share insights on the current trends, challenges and innovations of using A.I. in the language classrooms and to provide needed input on how A.I can be integrated in the learning process.
