- Coordinating and monitoring the implementation of training programs for Innovative Curriculum Initiatives (such as OBE, Stackable Degree, Interdisciplinary programs)
- Representative of IIUM in MAGNETIC
- Coordinating and monitoring the implementation of CPD-related award submission for TAKRIM IIUM
- Coordinating and monitoring the implementation of award submission for National level (such as AAN, AKRI, etc).
The unit’s scope of work focuses on several key areas that drive IIUM’s academic innovation:
Curriculum Development and Modernization: The unit is in charge of coordinating and monitoring the implementation of major curriculum initiatives, such as Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Stackable Degrees, and Interdisciplinary programs. This ensures IIUM’s curriculum remains relevant, flexible, and aligned with industry and societal needs.
External Recognition and Representation: As the IIUM representative in the Malaysian Higher Education Teaching and Learning Council (MAGNETIC), the unit plays a crucial role in external collaborations and benchmarking with other Malaysian public universities. This ensures IIUM’s practices are on par with national standards and best practices.
Awards and Excellence Recognition: The unit oversees the submission of key awards that recognize IIUM’s excellence in teaching and curriculum design. This includes coordinating nominations for both the university’s own TAKRIM IIUM awards and prestigious national accolades such as the Anugerah Akademik Negara (AAN) and the Anugerah Khas YB Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi: Rekabentuk Kurikulum dan Penyampaian Inovatif (AKRI). These efforts not only celebrate the achievements of individual academic staff but also solidify IIUM’s reputation as a leader in educational innovation.
