Welcome to the 15th International Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance (15th ICIEF)
The First International Conference on Islamic Economics held in Makkah al-Mukarramah in 1976, was the watershed for the new discipline and development in light of ‘Islamic Economics (IE)’. Almost five decades later, the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS) of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is honoured for the third time to manage and host the 15th International Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance (15th ICIEF) held from the 20th – 22nd February 2024 in Kuala Lumpur themed ‘Driving the Agenda for a Sustainable Humane Economy. Recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, financial and economic crises coupled with climate change challenges provided member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) the opportunity to embrace Islamic economics and finance (IEF) as the indigenous approach to shape economic policy making. The operationalization of the relationships of IEF’s theoretical foundations and its application requires greater attention for grand success. The world’s increasing complexity, inter- and trans-connectedness demands top notch planning for developing a responsive and accountable IEF. The 15th ICIEF represents the unifying platform of academics, researchers and policymakers from across the world, Muslim and non-Muslim, to discuss the facing nuanced challenges and harness efforts towards a greater common future.
