Workshop on Teaching Macroeconomics from Islamic Economics

I-SUMMARY OF THE PROGRAM

The "Workshop in Teaching Macroeconomics from Islamic Perspective" was a collaborative effort between the International Federation of Islamic Economics and Finance Educators (I- FIEFE) and the Centre for Islamic Economics (CIE). The workshop was held on 25-26 January 2023, both physically and online via Zoom. The venue of the workshop was IPB Convention Centre, Bogor. The opening session was graced by four esteemed chiefs, namely the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) from IPB University, the Director of CIE from IIUM, the Director of IIIT-SEA, and the Vice Chairman of IAE. The opening session was followed by the launching of the Membership of the International Federation of Islamic Economics and Finance Education (I-FIEFE). The first day of the workshop consisted of four sessions that covered various topics related to teaching macroeconomics from an Islamic perspective. The second day began with a group discussion where participants were divided into four groups to discuss specific topics related to teaching macroeconomics from an Islamic perspective. The topics were discussed within the groups, and later, each group presented its findings to the entire audience during Session 6. The workshop concluded with a closing session that included representatives from CIE-IIUM, IAEI, IPB, and Future Plans. The workshop was attended by six participants from the Centre for Islamic Economics. Overall, the "Workshop in Teaching Macroeconomics from Islamic Perspective" was a successful collaborative effort to explore the teaching of macroeconomics from an Islamic perspective, and the topics discussed were informative and engaging for all the participants.
