NEW UNICORE COURSES

INTRODUCTION

The University Required Courses (UniCORE) is a set of courses that are required to be taken by all IIUM undergraduate students. In QLD we offered 2 type of UniCORE courses for English Medium Programme students (batch 261XXXX): Muslim & NOn-Muslim. The uniCORE courses for Muslim students focus on Arabic for understanding Ibadah Purposes, while the UniCORE courses for Non-Muslim students are focusing on Arabic for communication.

MUSLIM

Arabic for Understanding Ibadah I

Contact hours: 2.5 / Credit hours: 1

The course focuses on the understanding essential religious expressions, including selected prayer recitations, duʿāʾ and adhkār. The course introduces students to Arabic alphabet, selected vocabulary and short phrases commonly used in daily ibadah. Through guided understanding of meaning, the course enables students to be more focused with better internalization in their ibadah as practised by Rasulullah S.A.W, which aligns with the Tawhidic Epistemological framework.

Arabic for Understanding Ibadah II

This course builds upon the foundational knowledge of ibadah by focusing on selected Quranic verses, hadith and commonly recited duʿāʾ in sunnah practices. Through guided understanding of meaning, the course enables students to be more focused with better internalization in their ibadah as guided by Rasulullah S.A.W, which aligns with the Tawhidic Epistemological framework.

Arabic for Effective Communication I

This is an Arabic language course for absolute beginners which introduces students to basic Arabic communication for daily life. It is an integrated course which combines four essential language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). The course enables students to use basic Arabic words and phrases to communicate basic information about themselves and others.

This is an Arabic language course for the beginner level which introduces students to Arabic basic communication for daily life. The course also exposes students to common Arabic vocabulary and expressions used in IIUM. It is an integrated course which combines the four essential language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). The course enables students to communicate using Arabic in familiar and common everyday situations.
