PROFESSOR–FELLOW LECTURE SERIES NO. 2/2026: STUDYING ISLAM IN SOUTHEAST ASIA: PAST APPROACHES, RECENT INNOVATIONS, AND FUTURE PATHWAYS – Professor Dr. Syed Muhd. Khairudin Aljunied

GOMBAK, March 12 – The IIUM Leadership Centre (ILC) successfully conducted the Professor–Fellow Lecture Series No. 2/2026, featuring Professor Dr. Syed Muhd. Khairudin Aljunied. The programme was held at the Senate Hall, Muhammad Abdul Rauf Building, IIUM Gombak Campus.

This initiative was organised by the ILC as the lead organiser, in collaboration with the Office of the Rector and the Office for Communication, Advocacy and Promotion (OCAP). The series continues its objective of providing university leaders with insights into contemporary leadership challenges, governance, and intellectual thought while fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and mentorship.

The second session for 2026 was titled “Studying Islam in Southeast Asia: Past Approaches, Recent Innovations, and Future Pathways” and moderated by the Rector of IIUM, Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar.

The series serves as a strategic platform for university leaders to engage with global ideas, broaden their perspectives, and strengthen their understanding of leadership within a dynamic and interconnected world. The successful execution of this session reflects the ongoing commitment of the ILC, the Office of the Rector, and OCAP to enhancing academic governance and achieving Ummatic Excellence.
