HOW TO APPLY FOR VISA APPROVAL LETTER (VAL) THROUGH EMGS WEBSITE

STEP 1: CREATE AN ACCOUNT

Apply your Visa Approval Letter through the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) website at https://educationmalaysia.gov.my/five-steps-to-study-in-malaysia/#step4 

STEP 2: FILL OUT THE APPLICATION FORM

  1. Institution Type — Select Public Higher Education Institution

  2. Institution Name — Select “UNIVERSITI ISLAM ANTARABANGSA MALAYSIA”

  3. Year of Intake — As stated in the offer letter (enrolment date). If you are a deferred student please refer to the deferment letter.

  4. Month of intake — As stated in the offer letter (enrolment date). If you are a deferred student please refer to the deferment letter.

  5. Course Name — As stated in the offer letter

  6. Course Duration of Study — This field will be automatically filled up based on the course you selected.

  7. Course Level — This field will be automatically filled up based on the course you selected.

  8. Applicant’s Photo — Upload your photo (White Background, 3.5cm x 4.5cm (217px x 280px), JPG format). Please refer to this link https://educationmalaysia.gov.my/passport-photo-requirements/

  9. Applicant’s Name — As stated in the passport (MRZ format)

  10. Applicant’s gender — Specify your gender as stated in your passport

  11. Applicant’s place / country of Birth — Select

  12. Applicant’s date of birth — DD/MM/YYYY

  13. Obtain Single Entry Visa (SEV) from

    Malaysian Embassy / Consulate in your home country

    If your country does not have a Malaysian Embassy, please select the nearest country that has a Malaysian embassy.

  14. Applicant’s Nationality — Scroll to select your nationality

  15. Travel Document Type — Please select the type of passport you are using

  16. Travel Document Number—Your passport number.

  17. Travel Document Place / Country of Issue — Please select

  18. Travel Document Issued on — Date of passport issued

  19. Travel Document Valid until — Date of passport expiry

  20. Insurance – Select Own Group Insurance

  21. Sticker pass fees — Select EMGS, xx year pass, +RMxx.00

  22. Visa Fees — Default

  23. iKad – Select- xx year self-collect at EMGS

  24. Medical Screening at — Select Public University Clinics

  25. Extended Student Pass — Default

  26. VAL Delivery Method — Select Collect at EMGS

  27. Upload Document — Offer letter (less than 550KB), Passport Data Page (less than 2000KB),

  28. Academic Certificates (less than 1000KB) and Pre Medical Report Of any and less than 1000KB).

 

STEP 3: MAKE A PAYMENT

  1. Students must pay directly to EMGS Account. Select Credit Card (RM only) — Payment to EMGS for the Visa Charge;

 

STEP 4: CHECK VAL STATUS

Please check your status at this link

The IIUM will email to student after receiving the VAL

DO NOT purchase your flight ticket until you have obtained the VAL

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

The EPT/APT will be conducted during the first week of the orientation programme. Failure in attending EPT and APT tests might restrict you to successfully enroll as IIUM postgraduate students. If you do not fulfill the required band, you are required to undergo Postgraduate Special Language programme before proceeding to the respective programme of studies. (Tuition and academic administrative fees for this programme will be charged accordingly)

Note: An offer of admission issued to candidate who does not satisfy language requirement shall remain valid for a period of two years. Should the applicant fail to attain the required scores within the two years, the offer of admission shall be automatically withdrawn.

An exemption from Rule 1.4. (Please refer to PG Policies at this link: https://centre.iium.edu.my/cps/language-requirements/) may be given to those who have undertaken regular programmes of studies and
graduated from universities that use English or Arabic as the medium of instruction or they have proven their English or Arabic proficiency through their experience to be decided subject to rigorous evaluation by Centre for Languages and Pre-Academic Development (CELPAD), Centre of Studies (CoS) and Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS).

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST (EPT)

All new students are required to sit for the English Proficiency Test (EPT) conducted during the first week of Ta’aruf. An exemption from EPT can be given to students who have graduated from the following English-speaking countries: UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA. (Certificates from other than these 5 countries are not accepted). Other accepted certificates are as follows:

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): Minimum Grade C
Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): Minimum Grade B
English Language GCSE, IGCSE or O-Level: English as First Language- Grade C
English as Second Language – Grade B
International Baccalaureate Standard Level (SL & HL): Score of 5 in English
European Baccalaureate: Score of 70% in English
IDEXCEL PTE – Scores of 50 and above

*Certificates from twinning programmes between local institutions and institutions from either the English or Arab- speaking countries are not accepted.

An exemption can also be given if you can present an official score/band report in the TOEFL, IELTS, and EPT (it must not exceed 2 years from the date stated on the certificate).

For local students who have the MUET (Malaysian University English Test) certificate, you may also be exempted if you have achieved the minimum score required based on your Kulliyyah requirement.

ARABIC PROFICIENCY TEST (APT)

All new students are required to sit for the Arabic Proficiency Test (APT). The test will be conducted during the first week of Ta’aruf. An exemption from APT can be given to students who have graduated
from the following Arab-speaking countries with Arabic as a single medium of instruction.
The 19 countries are: Algeria. Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE & Yemen.

*Certificates from twinning programmes between local institutions and institutions from either the English or Arab- speaking countries are not accepted.

Specific Arabic Language Entry Requirements (page17-18)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR IIUM ALUMNI
For IIUM Alumni students who have completed the language requirements for APT or EPT during your studies in IIUM (Bachelor degree or Master degree), you still need to fulfill the language requirements of the Post-graduate programme offered to you. Thus, you still need to sit for the latest APT/EP requirement.

All new students are required to undergo medical check-up at the IIUM SEJAHTERA CLINIC as scheduled by the Centre. You must fill in the required forms i.e QR code for health declaration and medical checkup form as instructed by the Centre at the link below;

The original form duly signed by the medical officer must be submitted together with the original lab result with a scanned report emailed to healthcentre@iium.edu.my. Please provide your matric number, name and programme.

If further information on your health is required, students must comply with the extra investigation (at your own expenses) required before the status is verified by the medical officer as FIT, FIT WITH CONDITION, PENDING OR UNFIT.
