
The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) proudly celebrates a remarkable milestone achieved by its debaters, as IIUM Team A was crowned the Champion of the Kejohanan Debat Hak Asasi Manusia 2025, organized by the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM). This victory further strengthens IIUM’s standing as one of the leading institutions in the Malaysian debating circuit and highlights the University’s dedication to producing students who are articulate, principled, and intellectually driven.
Competition Overview
The Kejohanan Debat Hak Asasi Manusia is one of the most prestigious platforms in Malaysia dedicated to nurturing discourse and advocacy on human rights issues through debate. The 2025 edition of the tournament was held in two phases. The preliminary rounds took place online from 1st to 3rd August 2025, where teams from across the nation competed to secure a spot in the knockout stages. Following this, the quarterfinals, semifinals, and grand final were held physically from 19th to 21st August 2025 at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Puncak Alam Campus.
IIUM Team A: The Champions
Representing IIUM Team A were four outstanding debaters whose dedication, teamwork, and eloquence carried the University to victory:
- Aiman Izdihar bin Amran
- Nurul Hanan Badariah binti Abd Mutalib
- Nur ‘Aliyah Atiqah binti Mohd Hafiz
- Muhammad Farid Aqmaar bin Abdullah
