For the first time ever on 21st of October 2023 at 8:00 pm until 11:00 pm, CFS IIUM Astronomy Club has brought forth its opening program for the 23/24 semester called, ‘A Night Under the Milky Way’ that was held at CFS stadium. It was a podcast program in which the club has given a different meaning entirely as students and staffs of CFS IIUM did not only get to dwell on the podcast, however they are able to unveiled themselves with booths and of course none other than, not one but three telescopes in which each of them focused on different celestial body of our Solar System.
Not to mention, that this outstandingly unique program has recorded a total of 1,017 participants, that is 1/3 of CFS population! Moreover, there are multiple distinguished guests that were invited such as Ustaz Dr Ahmad Irfan Ikmal Hisham who is a senior lecturer in University Malaysia Pahang as well as the acting speaker with the talk titled, “Contribution of Falak to Modern Muslim Community” while Bahagian Falak, Jabatan Mufti Pahang held an exquisite yet humble exhibition of falak artifacts and not forgetting Jabatan Ukur dan Pemetaan (JUPEM), Pahang with their high-tech telescopes which enables students and staffs to gaze at planets and surface of the moon, this can be considered as the highlight of the event. Needless to say, there are numerous attractions including the club’s very own booth that promotes two type of merchandise in which have managed to generate income as well as received an upmost pleasant response.
Through the telescopes prepared, participants are able to admire the planets, Jupiter and Saturn as well as earth’s one and only natural satellite which is the surreal Moon. This opportunity does not indeed come often, hence why it is claimed to be the actual main event as each and everyone can be seen continuously queuing up to watch through the telescopes from the beginning until the end of the program. This also enhances one’s appreciation and realization of the beauty of Allah S.W.T creation that is equaled by none. Other than to amplifies the knowledge of the Universe to the people of CFS IIUM, undoubtedly the club’s imminent goal has always been to implement gratitude, humbleness and admiration within the community towards the blessings of Allah S.W.T. Thus, it is obvious that this revealing program was a success and this indicates the rightfulness to remain excited for the club’s upcoming programs.
