International Workshop and Study Tour in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Centre for Islamic Economics (CIE), in collaboration with the Islamic Finance Research Institute of Ghana (iFRIG), successfully organised the International Workshop and Study Tour on Non‑Interest Banking and Finance, Sukuk Structuring, Capital Market Products, and Takaful from 22 to 26 June 2026 at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur.

This five‑day executive programme provided participants from Ghana with structured exposure to Malaysia’s Islamic finance ecosystem, combining academic sessions, institutional visits, and interactive discussions. The workshop featured lectures by experts from IIUM and iFRIG, covering topics such as non‑interest contracts, Sukuk structuring, Islamic economics foundations, regulatory frameworks, fintech applications, and social finance for MSMEs.

Participants also visited leading financial institutions and regulators, including Bank Negara Malaysia, Bursa Suq al‑Sila’, CIMB Islamic, and the Securities Commission Malaysia, gaining first‑hand insights into operational practices and policy implementation within Malaysia’s Islamic finance industry.

The programme concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony, marking the successful completion of the training. It strengthened academic and professional collaboration between IIUM and iFRIG, promoting cross‑regional knowledge exchange and capacity building in non‑interest finance.
